Journey to Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday will look a little different this year, and we have several opportunities to connect with us virtually!

Sunday, Feb. 7, 2:30pm - A short livestream time of prayer and burning the palms that will produce the ashes we will use on Ash Wednesday.

Sunday, Feb. 14, after 12pm -  Instead of person-to-person distribution of ashes, you have the opportunity to receive ashes on a piece of burlap. You can pick up a piece of burlap, marked with ashes in the shape of a cross, from a table in the garden any time this Sunday after noon. If you are unable to make it then, contact the church office and we will make sure you receive one. There are a couple of options for you to use the marked burlap as a sign of devotion:

  1. You can keep it in your home for the whole season of Lent as a reminder of our sacrifice and devotion in this holy time.
  2. You can press it against your forehead or hand on Ash Wednesday as the physical symbol we are accustomed to.
  3. You can watch as the ashes fade from the burlap over time and remember the renewal God brings us.

Wednesday, Feb. 17, 7pm - virtual Ash Wednesday service

Services will be streamed through our Facebook page and our normal Zoom meeting used for worship.
