About Us

Lakewood UMC is a community of people connected to each other and our neighborhood by the love of God. We believe that God calls us into an authentic sense of belonging built on sharing that love through open hearts, open minds, and open doors. We affirm that all people are created in the image of God and, as beloved children of God, are worthy of God's love and grace. Our faith moves us to welcome all persons of every age, gender identity, racial or ethnic background, sexual orientation, marital or socio-economic status, physical or mental ability to full participation in our faith community. We invite all people in our journey toward greater understanding and mutual respect and reconciliation through Christ.

In our worship, spiritual growth, service, and all our life together, we value:

Hospitality – We welcome and affirm all persons of every age, gender identity, racial or ethnic background, sexual orientation, marital or socio-economic status, physical or mental ability to full participation in our faith community. (Plus we always have coffee and snacks!)

Exploration – We believe God’s story is constantly unfolding all around us and we seek to provide ways to journey with God, always learning more about our faith.

Reconciliation - We are committed to following Christ’s example in breaking barriers and bringing people together.

Creation - We value all of God’s good creation and seek to creatively participate in the re-creation of peace and wholeness in our neighborhood and throughout the world.

Compassion – We affirm and respect all people and seek ways to love more deeply and live more fully with each other.

Justice – We commit to working with God to meet the needs of the marginalized and to use our voice, actions, resources, and privilege to advocate for those in need.

Celebration – We believe that our life with God and one another should be appreciated and enjoyed. We seek to be a safe space where all can be themselves and experience the depths of divine joy.

If you are looking for a church home, we hope you will visit us. We have a traditional style service at 10:30 on Sunday mornings and a Messy Church service for children and families at 5pm on Sunday evenings. We are located at 2443 Abrams (between Lakeshore and Palo Pinto). Parking is in the back. Even if you are not looking for a church home, we hope you will come by and introduce yourself as a neighbor. If you would like more information, please call (214) 823-9623, e-mail us at office@mylakewoodchurch.org, or like our Facebook page to stay updated.

We look forward to meeting you.

A Reconciling Congregation

We are pleased to be a part of the Reconciling Ministries Network. We affirm and celebrate all people (no exceptions!) as children of God and we welcome you to worship with us.
