LUMC will celebrate its 90th anniversary on Saturday and Sunday, September 10 and 11! Join us on Saturday for our Neighborhood Block Party from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We will have dogs available for adoption from StrayDog and Oak Hill Animal Rescue, and you can bring your pet by (on a leash or in a crate, please) to be blessed! We will also have snow cones, a bounce house, Mark Ridlen DJing, and representatives from the police and fire department. When you get hungry, Jerry's Wood-Fired Dogs will be here to feed you (they take cash only).  If you’d like to be here as a volunteer, sign up in the narthex.

On Sunday, September 11, we will have a special worship service followed by a catered barbecue lunch. We hope you will celebrate with us on one or both of these days.

Texas Social Communication Connection

We are so excited to tell you about the newest group using our building during the week! The Texas Social Communication Connection was founded by Michelle McFarlin, MS, CCC-SLP, who is a certified speech language pathologist specializing in autism spectrum disorder. She will run a program in one of our classrooms called Building Blocks for Social Communication. Building blocks will serve a small group of 3- to 5-year-olds with social communication challenges, with or without an autism diagnosis. In addition to Michelle, there will also be a graduate student in speech-language pathology doing her studies at the University of Texas - Callier Center for Communication Disorders. We are thrilled to be able to help Michelle serve the families in our neighborhood with children who have autism spectrum disorder and other difficulty communicating!
