From our pastor…
In the middle of the recent ice, Dave and I travelled to the Prothro Center at Lake Texoma to support our son, Zack, at his Board of Ministry interviews. The trip up 75 was shear adventure and most certainly folly. Parenthood is not for sissies. We lost count of the accidents. For a time the southbound lanes were closed. Miles of back-up. Trucks tipped over, and at times, it was hard to know for sure the direction the cars were supposed to be going.
But, it was a good day for Zack – he passed! Words of praise and warmest welcome showered on him. In fact, it is going to be a good year for Zack. This milestone comes at the end of ten years of hard work, graduate school, writing, local church ministry – all focused on ordination as an Elder in the United Methodist Church. Then, in April, he will marry the love of his life, Laura. They have a marvelous trip to New York planned for their honeymoon. Then, in June at Annual Conference, the actual ordination service takes place. Another celebration! Then, in August, he will officiate the wedding of his sister, Megan, here at Lakewood. Another party! All of this follows what he knew was a good sign – his beloved Buckeyes won the national championship! (Also a party!)
The Spirit has always blown powerfully in Zack’s life. Even when he was very young, we knew this was coming. Our prayer for him is that he continue to follow Jesus, listen to the whisper of the Spirit, and find joy in service and leadership.
Peace,
Gayle
