90th Anniversary Celebration

Lakewood UMC will celebrate its 90th anniversary on Saturday and Sunday, September 10 and 11, 2016! We are excited to have this opportunity to share our ministry both within the congregation and throughout our neighborhood.

Celebration Weekend

On Saturday, September 10, we will host a community event on our property from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Representatives from StrayDog and Oak Hill Animal Rescue will bring dogs, which will be available for adoption, and we will have other fun activities for all ages to enjoy.

On Sunday, September 11, we will continue our celebration with a special worship service and lunch for the congregation.

90 Good Deeds

In the two weeks leading up to our anniversary, we will share our celebration with the world by performing 90 Good Deeds. Your good deed can be any act of kindness – holding the door open for a stranger, helping a loved one with a project, making someone smile when they need it. Colorful bracelets will be available for each good deed performed, and we hope you will pass some bracelets on to people so that they can be reminded to do good deeds for other people. We will start this project on Sunday, August 28 and hope to be able to provide a visual representation of our 90 Good Deeds for people to see on the weekend of our anniversary.

We look forward to our anniversary weekend! For more information, contact Eva in the church office at office@mylakewoodchurch.org

90th Anniversary T-shirts

Lakewood UMC will celebrate its 90th anniversary on Saturday and Sunday, September 10 and 11, 2016, and we will have t-shirts to help us get in the celebratory spirit! Our design will be available on a blue t-shirt (pictured below) as well as a red one. We would love for you to order one, or even more than one! Please send in your orders no later than Monday, August 8 so that we will have time to order and distribute our shirts before the anniversary weekend.

A Note from Finance Committee

Once again the faithfulness of our church family is showing.  After a slow start in collections this year we actually gained ground in June (when there are several vacations).  Please try to remain up-to-date on your giving as we make our way through the remainder of the summer.

We have a major fund raiser coming in the Craft Fair and we are looking into the possibility of having a Pumpkin Patch this fall as well.  If you are willing to help look into and organize the Pumpkin Patch please contact me (email: csvcastle@gmail.com or cell: 469-773-1239).

Thanks,

Chris Venable
